Just before my Copic Marker adventure, I also purchased some Faber Castell Polychromo color pencils and soft pastels. I didn’t do a lot of drawings with these color pencils, but I did manage to find four drawings.

Didn’t you like using these pencils?, you may wonder. I actually did and the quality of these pencils are excellent, but I simply loved the Copics so much more. So it is slim pickings in the colored pencil department. I’m still very grateful that I have them, because I’m fairly sure I’ll be returning to them in the future.

I decided to do Vegeta’s SSJ4 form because of the color palette, but really struggled with any type of blending to be honest. Properly layering colored pencils is really a technique you need to master, and that is something you can only do through practice. Still, I think that one turned out pretty well.

With future Trunks I used some Gamsol to try to blend the colors. Gamsol is a solvent which allows you to blend colored pencils and I had some mixed results with it. I believe paper and pencil quality play an important factor with this type of blending. I’d like to give that another shot in the near future.

I had so much fun with the pirate drawing for my little nephew. I bought him a big Lego pirate ship to accompany the drawing. I created a treasure hunt for him to follow, with a map and treasure chest. The map was based on our backyard and I cut it in three pieces, burnt the edges to make it look old and worn.

When I was growing up I loved Mario. Playing the Super Mario’s on the old SNES, awesome. I found a coloring page of the Koopas and thought it was a neat little thing to just color.
